The 2021 International Olefin and Polyolefin Technology Conference (IOPTC) –May 26-27, 2021, Pan Pacific Ningbo Hotel, China

Co-hosted by the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC) in Beijing and Lee Polymers Consulting in Houston.
You are cordially invited to participate in this international polyolefin conference in Ningbo, China on May 26-27, 2021. The theme of the conference is “The Impact of Technical Developments, Sino-US Trade Relationship, and Covid-19 on Sustainability in the Polyolefin Industry”.

In the effort to tackle the global “sustainability” challenge, we are dissecting it into three parts and will analyze the impact from each, namely technology developments, Sino-US Trade, and Covid-19. Global technical practitioners in research and development, marketing experts, economists, policy makers, and business executives are invited to address each component and elucidate the interrelationship between them. This conference is designed as an international forum for all of us to report progress made, to exchange ideas, and to stimulate new approaches in addressing the global sustainability issue.

For over 15 years, China has been the world’s largest polyolefin resin market consuming about one third global polyolefin production. To meet the domestic demand, China has been relentlessly expanding its manufacturing capability and conducting advanced research to reduce reliance on imports especially in more differentiated grades. Coupled with the Sino-US trade discord and the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation is far more complex in 2021 and beyond, consequently it is fitting to hold this conference in Ningbo, a major port and petrochemical hub in Zhejiang Province, China.

- Technology Developments
We are inviting managers and experts from R&D, licensing, and marketing
to report how the technical developments are improving sustainability,
including recycling via physical/chemical ways, light-weighting material development, and substituting complex structure with a single structure etc.

-Sino-US Trade
We will have business leaders and economists analyze the status of the trade relationship, and future development in sustainability between the two largest economies in the world.

-Covid-19
The pandemic has thrown a monkey’s wrench into the global economy. Its impact on polyolefin market dynamics, end-use applications, and recovery in 2021 will be delineated.
